#DAIKAGATE:Produce any permit or RECEIPT-JMDB call George Daika a Liar.

The Management of the Jos Metropolitan Development board has come out to clear the air on allegations of it taking down a billboard by PDP Gubernatorial apirant, George Daika. Mr Matthias N. Hata says due process was not followed and George Daika did not obtain permit before erecting the billboard. " I am surprised that people are making noise about due process of doing the needful, did Daika obtain the permit from the relevant authority? Somebody will just wake up and place adverts without any permit and cry wolf when we take it down, it is not the first billboard we are taking down.We have a franchise agreement with Nikavij the advert company that has that billboard, when my attention was called about the billboard I called the Director Mr Williams whether they were the ones that put the billboard they said they are not aware as it was strictly for commercials and not campaign, so we directed Nikavij to pull it down, Mr Williams in company of my Director town planning and some of my staffs went to the site to democratic the billboard and they were attacked by thugs" Mr Matthias reitereted "it is not a new thing we are doing, what we are doing is our routine job and it is not illegal, let Daika produce any permit or receipt for the billboard ". George Daika, has come out to accuse the LALONG administration for sending JMDB and some security men to pull down his billboard at the secretariat junction in Plateau State. In a telephone conversation with Munatarenews, Mr Daika said "I just recieved a call from one of the Lalong boys that the Permanent Secretary security Mr Cornelius has paid them and instructed them to go and pull down my billboard this night, They don't know that 40% of this LALONG boys are my boys and they report to me what is happening, even LALONG knows I am his senior in these politics game" Mr Daika is worried that LALONG is intolerant of democratic practices as a mere billboard that they have paid to the advertising company should not be taken down for whatever reason. The Permanent Secretary has come out to deny Daika's claim vehemently, claiming it as an attempt to malign his character. " I am a civil servant under the office of the SSG, what is my business with Billboards?, I think Daika wants to drag my name into politics but I am not a politician.

2019:ROCHAS OKOROCHA DECLARE FOR SENATE

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha yesterday offered explanations on why he was running for the senate in the next year’s general election. According to him, his name listed as one of the contestants would be of great help to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in the state and across the country. Besides, Okorocha said having his name on the ballot paper would further boost President Muhammadu Buhari’s chances of a second term in office. Okorocha had on Monday said he would run for Imo West Senatorial Seat while addressing officials and leaders of APC from Ohaji/Egbema Local Government who had come to express their endorsement for his son-in-law, Chief Uche Nwosu for the governorship election in 2019. He said: “For myself, I had not planned to contest any other position for now, but I am seriously eyeing the Presidency once President Muhammadu Buhari is through with his second tenure. But if I decide to sit back and watch how things unfold, wolves will come and scatter the sheep for which I am the shepherd. “So, if I don’t give a shot at the Senate, evil men will hijack it. Therefore, I am thinking of doing something about Orlu Senatorial Seat. I say this because if my name appears on the list of contestants in the 2019 elections it will help President Buhari and the APC in particular and of course other candidates in the state. “But the best you can do for me is to go out there and register en masse. We must go back to the drawing Board and encourage our sons and daughters to go and register. The political war has started. You have to be cautious because robbers, killers and other form of characters and deceptions would surface but don’t get caught in their webs. “This is my seventh year in office as governor of Imo State. In fact, it is less than a year to terminate. But if I leave this office and be less concerned, the light of progress we have put on may be extinguished. We need to sustain the development strides in Imo state and if we can sustain it in the next ten years, Imo will be like London.” Meanwhile, a governorship hopeful under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Okey Ezeh has upbraided APC on its silence over a plan by Okorocha to make his son-in-law as the next governor of the state. This, he said should be a source of concern to the party which had prided itself as the needed change the country deserved. Ezeh said: “During the Abacha era, all manner of people were deployed across the nation and it was as if Abacha would succeed, the same process happened during the Obasanjo third term era. Governor Obong Victor Atta also tried to impose his son in-law on the people of Akwa-Ibom state but he failed woefully. So, there is no way it will work in Igbo land because we are very proud people. “Nevertheless, people like us will not take it for granted because of the level of poverty in the state and the enormous resource a state governor can dispense to buy his way through. “There must be a conscious effort by all wellmeaning Imo people to educate the people especially some of our youths who are all over the social media on the dangers of what the governor is trying to do. “The governor is free to endorse anyone, but we must not allow him use the enormous resources at his disposal to achieve his inordinate dream.”

KEKE NAPEP SUSPENSION: PDP LASH OUT AT LALONG.

Following the ban on tricycle operators within the Jos and Bukuru metropolis on the heels of a reckless riot by the commercial tricicle riders.t The People Democratic Party has come out to question the rationale behind the move by Government, alleging it is a punishment on the youths and tricicle operators. In a press statement signed by the state publicity secretary, J.T Akans ,the PDP lashed out at Lalong calling on the Governor to reverse exorbitant fees charged. The statement reads... The Peoples Democratic Party,Plateau State is worried by the rather harsh action of Governor Simon Lalong administration towards the people of Plateau State through outright indefinite suspension of tricycle operators within Jos and Bukuru metropolis. This achieves nothing tangible but instead adds to the suffering of the people in the face of grinding and intolerably difficult economic downturn caused by the failed APC leadership at the federal and state levels. Rather than paying attention to how to lift the people from prolonged poverty, the Lalong administration is busy implementing a policy of collective punishment that adds to the poverty level in Plateau State and makes commercial transportation more difficult. What is really shameful in all of this is how a government can target very low income earners for exploitation in the name of revenue generation. The signs were there all this while that the tricycle operators were dissatisfied with government's potentially over-bearing initiative, but the government would not engage in any constructive dialogue. It waited instead to be reactive and high-handed. The introduction of commercial tricyle on June 12, 2012 was a well thought-out and deliberate policy of PDP administration to promote security, add to urban development and empower the teaming youths of Plateau State. This was indeed achieved through PDP's people-oriented policies and programmes. This policy was well-received and applauded by the people. The least we expected was for the current administration to add value to this people-oriented initiative. But painfully, the government is turning the youth back to joblessness and providing no other vibrant and policy option. It appear to us that the only policy known to the APC administration is "backward ever, Forward never". On this note, the people must have realised that their votes for Governor Lalong in 2015 were all in vain. Or else how is it fatally injurious under democratic rule for an oppresssed people to voice out their dislike of a policy? The Peoples Democratic Party comdemns this suppression of the people's right and the exploitative introduction of excess fees on the tricycle operators. It is a ruthless and pitiless method of suppressing the citizens. The party also condemns any action by hoodlums who may want to take advantage of a genuine expression of freedom for their selfish interest. PDP sympathises with the operators of tricycles over this unjust policy which has had a direct and adverse effect on their livelihood and curtailed the discharge of their responsibilities to their families. We also share in the pains and inconveniences visited on commuters in Jos and Bukuru. PDP calls on Governor Lalong to drop the excess charges, lift the suspension on commercial tricycle operators and be civil in his approach to sensitive issues that affect the wellbeing of the people. PDP also calls on the Governor to separate hoodlums from genuine agitators and address the grievances squarely so that normalcy can be restored for commuters. PLATEAU: PDP FACTION CALL FOR DISSOLUTION OF PLASIEC

Hon Emmanuel Macham JP the state publicity secretary of Sen Sheriff Group of PDP, Plateau State have call for the dissolution of State Independent Electoral Commission (plasiec) headed by Mr Fabian Ntung. Citing incompetence and lack of foresight in discharging of its duties as an independent body empowered by law to conduct local government elections in Plateau State. He said the recent announcement by the state chairman, rescheduling the Local Government Elections citing security reason in the state did not come to us as a surprise, the electoral body was never prepared to conduct the elections in the first place, many guideline set by the commission where already breach before the announcement.yes we can't play with security issues, but the commission also need not to play with the intelligence of the political class in the state. Weeks after the announcement nothing have been had again from the electoral empire, weather the security situation have improve or not,no date have been fix for the much expected elections to take place. Our party paid millions of naira to register candidates for this elections, this funds came from aspirants and genuine members of our party PDP. By implication our party, aspirants and supporters are ready for this elections, which will serve as a testing ground for 2019 general election,we need no messiah to interpret PDP dominance in Plateau State. The commission silence to the general public is an act of injustice already and another ploy to create insecurity politically. How can an independent body empowered by law such as PLASIEC be totally and completely dependent on Government as this commission is doing. We condemn in totality the commission act and call for there resignation or the complete overhaul of the chairman and commission members to give room for more energetic vibrant personalities to handle the local government elections expected in the State. By the action exhibited by the commission,we seriously lack confidence in the commission to conduct free and fair elections, and call for there removal and appointment of competend person to handle this task. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION TO COME FIRST, INEC INSISTS

The Independent National Electoral Commission says it is standing by its decision to hold the 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections on the same day while the governorship and state legislative elections will come next. The Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this at the quarterly consultative meeting with the media in Abuja on Monday. INEC had announced last year that the presidential and National Assembly elections would hold on February 16, 2019 while the governorship, state assembly and area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory would take place on March 2, 2019. The National Assembly, however, opposed the sequence of the election and amended the Electoral Act such that the National Assembly election would hold first while the presidential election would come last. The bill has since been transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent. However, the INEC boss said the commission would continue to prepare for elections based on its own schedule since it could not make plans based on speculation. When asked if the electoral body would challenge the matter in court, the INEC boss said when the time comes the commission would take a decision. Yakubu said, “There are many ‘ifs’ but here, we deal with certainty. As far as the commission is concerned, there is no legal lacuna at the moment. What we have done is on the basis of the existing law and nothing has changed. “If the bill is accented to, we will look at the provisions and inform Nigerians on the next step. But as far as the commission is concerned at the moment, we are operating under the existing law and we have issued a timetable for the activities accordingly. “If something happens tomorrow, we will examine it and proceed accordingly.” The INEC boss said the budget for the 2019 elections had been drafted based on its own sequence and timetable. He said the proposal would soon be transmitted to the National Assembly for approval.

GET READY FOR 2019: Buhari task APC Leadership

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday advised the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress to avoid what he called “illegal maneuvers” in picking the party’s candidates at all levels for the 2019 elections. He urged them to ensure internal democracy and avoid shortcuts which he said had characterised opposition party and had left it divided. Buhari made the call in his remarks at the opening ceremony of the party’s national caucus meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said, “Now that INEC has come out with the timetable for elections in 2019, the party should prepare itself for congresses at wards, local governments, states and the centre. “We should strictly follow the constitution of the party in undertaking these party elections. We should ensure internal democracy and avoid shortcuts and illegal maneuvers which have characterised the opposition party with the consequences that they are now divided. “The APC has a history of conducting free and fair primaries whenever consensus about any candidacy is not reached. “Regardless of the outcomes of the primary processes, it is imperative that we all work together to ensure the victory of our party.”

DAPCHI ABDUCTION :PDP ASK NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO TAKE ACTION

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the National Assembly to immediately, as a matter of urgent national importance, open a full scale investigation into the circumstances leading to and surrounding the unfortunate abduction of 110 school girls in Dapchi, Yobe state. *This investigation has become imperative in the face of rising speculations and conspiracy theorems in the public space, fueled by conflicting reports, attempts at cover-up and disagreements among government officials and agencies regarding the ugly incident.* The National Assembly must take a critical note of the allegation by Yobe State governor, Ibrahim Geidam, who insists that the abduction was preceded by the withdrawal of troops safeguarding the troubled area. *The governor is the chief security officer of the state and his statement cannot be taken lightly or even dismissed by just a wave of the hand by anybody or any government agency under any guise whatsoever.* The PDP also urges the National Assembly to investigate the various conflicting reports that have characterized the abduction, particularly the initial moves by the Federal Government to deny the occurrence of this incident. *Nigerians are indeed worried about the apparent deliberate design to hide the facts of this abduction and demand to know the truth. It is a common saying in Africa that thunder does not strike on the same spot twice.* We must not allow our national ambience to be filled with speculations from conspiracy theorists. Our lawmakers must therefore, in unraveling the matter, question all security agencies, particularly those operating in the area. *Furthermore, we urge the National Assembly to urgently come to the rescue of some of the parents of our abducted daughters, who were arrested and taken into custody for daring to demand to know the whereabouts of their children and wards.* The Federal Government must be made to live up to the basic responsibility of protecting lives and property and also to be truthful to Nigerians at all times. *We therefore demand a strong legislative action at the highest level to enable our nation know the truth on this matter and other issues directly affecting the safety and wellbeing of our citizens.* Signed: Kola Ologbondiyan National Publicity Secretary

BUHARI'S VISIT TO JOS:THE RISE AND RISE OF LALONG AS A NATIONAL STATESMAN

"Someday the Son of a Nobody will become somebody, and the rejected stone will turn out to be the head cornerstone" that summarises the rise and rise of a silent achiever and rescue ambassador that came from political obscurity to emerge victorious as Governor under the APC ticket in 2015 when many never gave him a chance, but the Plateau Project Phenomenon ensured that Lalong became a child of neccesity,Lalong has since transformed to a child of destiny. I remembered the tears in the eyes of these noble and gentle Governor on the night he was declared Governor at Eleil Center on a victory lap humbly thanking God and Plateau citizens as he never thought he would emerge Governor, save for his late brother Dr Wummen BAKO of blessed memory that started what he termed a Joke by printing posters of him as Governor... He is revamping the highland Bottling company at Barking Ladies to mention a few of the numerous projects embarked upon by the rescue Governor. Hope you are now regretting ur actions? Moreso, I am highly disappointed with the leadership of the Management for their inability to handle Student compounded issues which is affecting the plight of the Nigerian and is capable of igniting unrest Such as lack of transparency and Accountability in handling issues regarding Nigerian Students who are raw and vulnerable at this 21s Century and only Open door policy and Justice can solve and nibbed early warning because" an injustice anyway is a threat to peace everywhere". How do u expect leadership of students to control their colleagues and manipulate while there are no elected SUG and NAPSS EXCO/Structure on ground, because of reasons best known to the Management and the people who never mean well for Unionism and Nigerian Students. NIGERIA IS BUILDING AFRICA'S BIGGEST FREE TO AIR TV-LAI MOHAMMED

NIGERIA is building what will be Africa’s biggest and most lucrative Free To Air Television platform, with the ongoing transition from analogue to digital television in the country, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said. ”With over 24 million TV households, and being the capital of African creativity in Music and Film, I am now more than convinced that we will also become the capital of Television in Africa within the next few years,” the Minister said at the launch of the digital television in Osogbo, Osun State, on Friday. He said everyone, including mobile phone companies, advertisers, content producers, electronic manufacturers, Nollywood and State Government, stands to benefit from the transition. Alhaji Mohammed said mobile phone companies should leverage on the set-top boxes that give owners access to the free television channels to get data to the 24 million TV households in the country, adding: “With the boxes we have introduced, your data can be taken into every home in Nigeria for use in consuming video.” He said the transition will also benefit advertisers, noting: ”We are finally going to be able to bring all those 180 million eyeballs to the doorsteps of your product, with the technology that will make it easier for you to target identified customers and make every Naira you spend on advertising worth its while.” The Minister said content producers will no longer pay to get their content aired, but will instead be paid, thanks to a myriad of channels and a well-managed Audience Measurement System. He urged Electronics Manufacturers to, through the massive sale of television sets, decoders and dongles, provide jobs for Nigerians and become exporters of the appliances to the rest of Africa. ”To Nollywood, your movies can now be sold directly to all homes in Nigeria without the need of a VCD, DVD or even the Internet, using the DSO platform to market and sell films,” Alhaji Mohammed said, while also advising state governments to take advantage of the Digital Switch Over (DSO) platform to engage residents, disseminate information and for job creation in both the production and distribution sectors. With the DSO launch in Osogbo, Osun State, digital television has now been rolled out in five states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The DSO was formally launched in Jos, Plateau State, in April 2016, followed by the FCT, Kwara, Kaduna and Enugu States.
