KANAM YOUTHS APPLAUD DARIYE ON BILL FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC

KANAM YOUTH COUNCIL  SUPPORT THE BILL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, KANAM, PLATEAU STATE.

It is not a secret that Kanam Local Government have been longing for a bill like this at the upper legislative chamber of Nigeria, getting it now is not too late or bad.

It may be recall that the Local Government administration under Dr SMG Kanam has in 2009, key into that issue and constituted a Committee to that effects but, somehow, it did not materialised.

That Sen Joshua C Dariye has finally sponsored a bill to that effect, which on Wednesday 7th February, 2018, passed through it first reading in the Senate is a welcome news for anyone that genuinely have the development of Kanam in mind not his personal aggrandizement. This is because, in addition to bringing education closer to our ever increasing population and providing employment opportunities to our people, the bill, if pass to law and the institution established, has the natural propensity to boost our economic activities in the area.

KYC therefore feel it's important, barring interests from other parts of Plateau in the institution, to throw our words behind the bill and call on all and sundry to support the bill in all ramifications.

That the bill came at the penultimate year before 2
019 means that there is need for the sponsor of the bill to demonstrate genuine commitment to it course by pressing on the senate to speed up the process and ensure it come through it second reading, third reading and subsequently become a law.

At this juncture, we want to call on all illustrious sons and daughters of Kanam to close ranks and explore ways of providing support for the bill, recourse on their connections in the country despite all political differences. Our traditional institutions also have important roles to play by joining forces together with the senator along with the sons and daughters of the council to ensure it sees the lights of the day.

This is an effort that need robust support and all inclusive encouragement. We must put our hands on desk unanimously and see to it actualisation. We are calling on our youths to fast and pray for this bill to succeed, as this is the first of it kind that traveled so far in the name of Kanam.
