VOLATA DECRY PLANS TO HIJACK LG ELECTIONS BY SEPERATIST GROUPS

VOLATA,an acronym for Vote Lalong and Tyoden again campaign group has come out to throw its weight behind PLASIEC for the decision to cancel the LG polls citing Security reasons. In a press release the Chairman of the Group Mr Promise Yatu says the group is aware of a planned mobilisation of miscreants and seperatists groups to cause mayhem in the state for fear of losing out at the polls.
The group advocates that rather than politicise security issues, all hands must be on deck to make sure the security of lives and property is maintained.

PRESS RELEASE.

Consequent upon the postponement of the 17th February 2018 local government council elections in Plateau State by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (Plasiec), on the grounds of security forethoughts and recommendations, it has become obligatory for the leadership of VOLATA to address her esteemed supporters and the general public on the concerns that lays bear.

It will be recalled that Plasiec had reiterated their readiness for the elections not quite long but due to circumstances unfortunately unforseen, the elections had to be shifted to a later date for the purpose of fairness and abatement of all probable threats to the process, before or after.
The hideous history of local government council elections in the state has proven that security intelligence can never be overlooked hence, the pertinent and immediate need for postponement of the elections.

We are aware that there is a mass mobilization of miscreants all over the state by some separatists and enemies of peace, just to hijack the electioneering process and period, in order to settle pending scores of their evil dockets; we wish to first and foremost commend the Government, the Security agencies and Plasiec for seeing the need to tackle this impendence expeditiously before any furtherance, this has gone miles in reaffirming the Government's commitments towards safeguarding lives and properties of the citizenry.

It is rather unfortunate and lamentable that some have given this righteous development a politically catachrestic interpretation but we must take heed to caution and not to allow our partisan differences or desperation consume our sense of judgement as in the hitherto case of 2008. We must learn to treat matters of peace and security with high degree of assertiveness and objectivity regardless of whose ox is gored.

We wish to once more extol the sincerity of the Government, the doggedness of the Security agencies and resoluteness of Plasiec to making sure that Plateau State remains peaceful: we encourage them not to hesitate on dealing mercilessly with anyone or group of persons that would dare the peace.

Similarly, we call on the general public to remain unruffled and vigilant as we await further informations from Plasiec.

Thanks and God bless.

Long live VOLATA
Long Live PLASIEC
Long Live Plateau State.

Cmr. YATU PROMISE
CHAIRMAN, VOLATA

Engr. BUHARI AUWAL
ORGANIZING SECRETARY VOLATA
