PLATEAU PEACE VANGUARD AND G17 TRADE WORDS OVER BOTCHED PROTEST

A youth group named Plateau Peace Vanguard has come out to condemn a planned visit of Mr Dachubg Bagos to Plasiec to ask about it's readiness to conduct the Local Government elections slated for February across the local Government areas of the state.
The group is challenging Mr Bagos on his authority to speak for the youths of Plateau bearing in mind that there is a Plateau Youth Council legitimately constituted to represent the interest of the state.
Mr Bagos issued a statement to the media on his stands and debunk the issues raised by the group.

A LETTER OF CAUTION to DACHUNG BAGOS.  foreman, PDP G-17.

It is with a deep sense of dismay that I opt to reach out to you. The need to advise you on this rather unfortunate path you have chosen to bring yourself to limelight has become necessary due to its potential to dent the public perception of this state in terms of peace and security.

I first want to state here that you are not the only concern Plateau citizen alive in this state, and your selective actions in terms of mobilizing Youths to the street on issues that ordinarily doesn't concern either you as a person or your group is totally unacceptable. We have seen scenarios unfold, we have patterned your actions and it summed up to be more like you doing the bidding of some political detractors with the hope that you will be compensated with your ambition to becoming a member of the national assembly.

We do not understand the justification upon which you (a PDP aspirant) is mobilizing uninformed/gullible Youths to "ask Plasiec questions on it's preparedness to conduct local government elections" in spite of the publicity efforts on going to inform plateau citizens on the umpire's readiness and commitment to conduct the local government elections as scheduled.

We are not unaware of the dangerous games you are playing that concur so much with the tendency of a crisis merchant. Take your time. Plateau State in terms of peace and security is seating on the edge of a sharp sword, any step we take either to the left or right is at our discretion. For this reason, we will not allow hoodlums in the guise of advocates like you drag us back to the days of unrest.

We have reached out to security agencies and have inform them accordingly that this shall be the last time we will condone this your public indecency.

We did not hear your voice in the past dispensation even when the activities of the Plateau Youths Council was unjustly banned by your kinsman. Why speak for us now that we have an elected and functional body to speak for us??

We hope that this will resonate in you the true character of a patriot you are desperately trying to impersonate. Thanks and God bless.

Mr Bagos reiterated his planned visit was to challenge Plasiec on transparency and accountability with no ulterior motive.

He made this known while addressing Journalists after he temporarily shelved his proposed visit to PLASIEC Office to get firsthand information concerning the Local Government Elections in the State slated for 17th February, 2017.

Bagos who said the purpose of his visit is to ask critical questions seeing the lack of preparedness by PLASIEC with elections coming up in few weeks time.

He went further to clear the air that he was going to PLASIEC to protest rather it was a peaceful visit with intent to engage PLASIEC constructively in order to know their level of preparedness to conduct elections that will be free, fair, credible and acceptable.

He said he was shocked when he got wind that some miscreants sent messages to hooligans to attack him at PLASIEC Office.

He said he is a law-abiding citizen who will not want anything tamper with the fragile peace being enjoyed in the State Capital hence the decision to shelve the visit so as not to clash with the “thugs” sent to attack him during the visit.

Mr. Bagos said his advocacies have been focusing on good governance, transparency, respect for rule of law and purposeful leadership that is people-oriented.

Bagos frowned at the way the PLASIEC Office was barricaded by security which caused serious traffic just because of his planned peaceful visit.

He said it will be uncharitable for PLASIEC to postpone the elections after people have spent their financial, human and time resources in campaigning. He said PLASIEC is yet to display names of voters which ought to be done before now as stipulated by the electoral act and constitutional provisions.

He said PLASIEC activities are shrewd in secrecy as ADHOC staff to conduct elections have not been trained and so many questions that require answers and clarifications needed to be pushed to the State electoral umpire.

Bagos opined that as a progressive youth, he will never do anything that will breach peace.

Bagos further said PLASIEC must come out and speak to the people with all sense of truth, honesty and responsibility so that they are not completely left in the dark of happening. He called on the youth not allow themselves to be used for selfish reasons by other people while saying people should disregard saying his visit is on behalf of G-17 as it is a personal visit which shouldn’t be politicized.

In his words “I remain a progressive youth, who is concerned about the peace, progress and development of Plateau State and Nigeria at large” “I am taken aback that people were mobilized through text messages to counter my well-intentioned and constructive visit to PLASIEC that will help them to deal with sensitive issues being circulated”
“I will never do anything that will put the Peace of Plateau State and its citizens to jeopardy rather I will engage in things that will promote Peace and unity” he concluded.
