OPINION:WALSHAK KEFAS CAUTIONS GINDIRI STUDENTS ON DESTRUCTIVE RIOT
MATTER OF URGENT IMPORTANCE A CALL FOR CAUTION ON COLLEGE OF EDUCATION GINDIRI STUDENTS BROUHAHA.
The riot and violent demonstration by the Great Nigerian Students that engulfed our Sister Institution the Famous College Of Education Gindiri,Which led to the lost of human life,Massive distructions of Properties and Facilities of our citadel of learning which is seen as a training institute.
I wish to use this medium to condemn this barbaric act and misbehavior by the Great Nigerian Students in this 21st century where we are trying to embrace paradigm Shift from Millitancy approach to diplomatic approach. The damage has been done what we awaits is the result of the distructions and regrets.
My Greatest Nigerian Students your reactions to the situation on ground was not properly plan and organized,Your suppose to communicate relevant authorities and Securities of your plan protest for them to supply you with Securities to carry out your peaceful demonstration now the what was seen as Peaceful ended up hijack by hoodlums and holigans. I condemned your actions with all sense of responsibility and plead that Diplomatic approach should be our watch word instead of Confrontation and Millitancy Approach. Hope you are now regretting ur actions?
Moreso, I am highly disappointed with the leadership of the Management for their inability to handle Student compounded issues which is affecting the plight of the Nigerian and is capable of igniting unrest Such as lack of transparency and Accountability in handling issues regarding Nigerian Students who are raw and vulnerable at this 21s Century and only Open door policy and Justice can solve and nibbed early warning because" an injustice anyway is a threat to peace everywhere".
How do u expect leadership of students to control their colleagues and manipulate while there are no elected SUG and NAPSS EXCO/Structure on ground,because of reasons best known to the Management and the people who never mean well for Unionism and Nigerian Students.
Furthermore, the unprofessional way the Nigerian military have been handling Students issues regarding to conflict and demonstration because of a just course always turns violent with there presence a case study of the following Institutions;
Nassarawa State University Keffi ,
College of Education Kangere, Bauchi State
Federal University Gombe,
Plateau State Polytechnic Jos,
And now College of Education Gindiri all this prior experience shows our Great Nigerian Students have been killed and many injured. Why this act of unprofessionalism in a democratic Setting?
May the soul of the departed via demonstration and students riot in our Nigerian Tertiary Institution continue to Rest in Peace.
I wish to call on All former and Serving Student Union Leadership on the Plateau to put and end to this problems emanating from our various Tertiary Institutions on the Plateau and beyond to avoid further lost of lives and properties.
Finally, I wish to call on the people's Governor His Execellency Bar Hon Simon Bako Lalong as your set to inaugurate Committee to Investigate and Find a lasting solution to the problem that engulfed the College at this critical period please consider the Former and serving Students leaders who have Served Plateau State Students at National and State Chapters, Students Union Leaders and National Association of Nigerian Students and Also Plateau Youth Council at home and in diaspora to be part of the Committee to help in finding Solution in the college and avoid unforseen circumstances in our Tertiary institutions on the Plateau.
My condolences to the Plateau State Government,Management of the College,Parents of Students and the Gindiri Community and Mangu LGC over the unfortunate incident and I pray that we don't witness such ugly incident again. May God help us build a Society where Justice,Equity and Fairness will be our Watchword.
Yours in the Struggle!
