PLATEAU: Security Reports informs PLASIEC Decision to Cancel LG Polls

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission has outrightly cancelled the Local Government Elections this month citing security reports from relevant security bodies to forestall breakdown of law and order in the state.

In a circulated press release after a press briefing with newsmen in Jos,the PLASIEC chairman Fabian Ntung spilled the beans on a rumored cancelation preceding his statement

Mr Ntung said "we received  a communication from security operatives, that the prevailing atmosphere in the state can not guarantee a peaceful election and we were advised to postpone the date of the election"

He said " Before now we were  very prepared  to conduct the local government elections come February 17 2019 ,our materials had been made available until the report came from security operatives

It will be recalled that a faction of the PDP led by Mr Badung had earlier issued a press statement demanding for a shift of the date of the elections citing irregularities and bribery allegation against Plasiec and the other faction of PDP.
