OPINION:Jos Got Talent-Nanzing charges New Commissioner of Tourism
JOS GOT TALENT
We may not know it or we may try to deny the fact that plateau state which happens to be the biggest talent export in the nigerian entertainment industry second only to Lagos is loosing millions of naira annually by failing to invest in the talents of her youth.
It's worthy to note that because of the importance of this sector, governor Ambode has set aside 1billion Naira to help grow the Lagos entertainment industry, this is in addition to the over 2000 Jobs the industry has the potential to create annually!
We are so gifted that people like Efe who recently retraced his steps back to warri won the maiden edition of the BBN by merely identifying with jos.
The singing & dancing duo of Peter and Paul got their first break right here in jos, released their first 2 albums in jos then switched to become "Lagos artist" when they made it big.
It's rather unfortunate that our young artist in jos lie in poverty without ever fulfilling their carrer in the entertainment industry. As a means of fighting to stay above water, most nebourhoods in jos on weekends organize small "music shows" where the best musical talents Nigeria has ever seen are allowed to lay waste.
The newly sworn in commissioner for youth & sports must find a way of helping our talents grow, he must understand that entertainment.... Either acting, or singing or sports runs in our blood which explains why anyone from jos always stands out as a unique breed amongst others.
Government, it is said have no business running business but government has a responsibility to create a conducive, enabling environment for business to grow.
PMAN it's time to put your acts together & get ready pick up the ball......
Dogo Nanzing
