The Plateau Roadmap to Peace Document is not Sacrosanct-JOSEPH LENGMANG
Mr Joseph Lengmang,The brain behind the Plateau Peace Agency roadmap to Peace that was unveiled by President Muhammadu Buhari in Jos have come out to ask all citizens of Plateau to join hands together with the agency to make sure that the implementation of the roadmap to Peace achieve its desired results.
Mr Lengmang while appreciating the efforts of the online community for its contribution in spreading the message of the agency said;
The unveiling of the roadmap to Peace document is yet another strategic phase in our efforts to tackle conflicts through proactive measures.
The launch of this document cannot and will not automatically translate into Peace. It will require a lot of commitment in terms of both human and financial resources to deliver on the promise of Peace and security.
Regardless of the challenges that lie ahead, I remain confident on the prospects that the implementation of the strategic plan holds for the future.
I have already worked out the strategy for the dissemination of the document which by the way a lot of people are eager to lay their hands on it. The idea to ensure that people especially stakeholders read, digest and appreciate the content of the document to the extent that it further generates interest in the work of the Peace building Agency.
I will make sure each and everyone of you is given a hard copy of the document and please feel very free to share your thoughts, feelings or any concerns that you think may help in the successful implementation of the activities outlined in the respective thematic areas.
The document is not sacrosant as such is open to review, revision and modification from time to time.
While the document was being launched some communities in Bokkos and Bassa came under attack. It was a very sad incident that keep me reminding us of the fragile nature of the much talked about Peace.
We commiserate with the families and victims of those attacks and wish to state further that we shall not be deterred in our determination to work with communities and relevant stakeholders to strengthen capacities for conflict prevention and foster Peace through mutual cooperation and understanding.
I trust our engagement within the last one week has set the basis for building a resounding working relationship predicated on mutual trust, respect and confidence.
The Plateau Roadmap to Peace Document unveiled is the first of its kind in Nigeria and it is a creation of the rescue administration Government of Governor Simon Bako Lalong.
