2019: MIDDLE BELT IN ROMANCE WITH SOUTHERN NIGERIA

As permutations and political realignment intensify towards the 2019 presidential elections,the middle belt region has come out in clear terms to stake its claim for Aso Rock presidential seat by aligning with the South South,South East and the South West to achieve its aim.

Mr John Dara while delivering a keynote address at middle belt youth summit held in Jos on the topic "Political and security situation of Middle belt in Nigeria Today-The need for a Road Map" highlighted the plans of the middle belt forum to romance the south to achieve its aim.
" as I speak there is a meeting ongoing in Ilorin for the formation of a new party with our brothers from the south,the middle belt have to align with the south since we have been shortchanged by our brothers of old".
He echoed that the middle belt have created new relationship with the south to build synergy and are looking for new friends that will protect the interest of the middle belt that has become a target for attacks of recent by herdsmen and unknown gunmen.

Dr Bala Takaya, the Chairman of the summit and leader of the middle belt forum charged the psyche of the youths of the middle belt to stop playing the baby  and take up arms to defend their community if the need arises.
Dr Takaya lamented on a systematic plan of ethnic cleansing by enemies of the middlebelt ,"Why are we so poor and in significant, the middle belt has disappeared on national political front,we are not part of the architecture of power only used as surrogates to the Northern oligarchy".

The summit unanimously rejected the cattle colony proposition of the federal government.

The Speaker pointed out that the challenges of the middle belt is zeroed to Persecution,Poverty and Impotence.

In his two fold solution to the myriad of challenges facing the middle belt Mr Dara opined that it is all about "strong leadership and systematic political programme" to chart a new path for the emancipation of the region.

On the balance he advised "we must avoid hatred and status of local champion and we must have cosmopolitan leadership with political sagacity.

He charged the youths to brainstorm and come up with an agenda to end the attacks in the region legitimately, and appealed that the region needs all hands to be on deck to secure guns and licences to set up vigilantes that will protect lives and properties of the people.

In attendance were youths from all the states in the middle belt,youth leaders,aspirants and stakeholders.
