The Benue State Governor,Samuel Ortom while giving an exclusive interview on Politics today, a live programme on Channels television said he is afraid because the armed militia have started killing well trained security personnel talk less of ordinary Benue citizens.
Governor Ortom met with President Muhammadu Buhari earlier today at the Presidential villa.
On the outcome of his meeting with the President, Ortom responded
"Buhari confirmed that criminals will no be spared as he said all human lives are precious as he showed his concern on the killings in Benue".
Governor Ortom is of the opinion that Miyetti Allah are the group behind the attacks
"I have spoken to the president about Miyetti Allah i have documentary evidence against them.
i have made Repeated calls for the arrest of Miyetti Allah group because since the anti grazing law came into effect on 22 of May,2017 they issued threats, they held a press conference in June and said they will resist the law, i petitioned the authorities that they should be arrested".
Mr Ortom said he was Waiting to receive the Inspector General of Police who was ordered by the President to relocate to Benue state to maintain Law and order
"I am waiting to receive him in Makurdi this evening,we spoke on phone and he said be wants to convene a stake holders meeting, tomorrow in the state".
On the way forward the Governor stressed,
"If you allow impunity and lawlessness to thrive you are looking for anarchy.
I have submitted adequate intelligence to security agencies to take necessary actions.
We know where they are camped,
They are in tungua at the moment"
To bring an end to this incessant herdsmen/Farmers clash experts are of the opinion that Nigeria should embrace modern animal husbandry, anti grazing law should be made for all states in Nigeria
In ortoms words
"The lasting solution is Ranching.
All over the world that is what is obtainable".
